ISC Companies and Adams-ISC have more than 75 years experience in providing parts and solutions to the HVAC industry including V-belts, sheaves, air filters, and motors.

V-Belts

Advantages at V-Belt DrivesGates V-Belts

  • Economical – Low initial cost and low cost to maintain
  • Quiet – Smooth starting and running, quiet operation
  • Clean – No lubrication is required
  • Easy – Easily installed and maintained; belts and sheaves wear gradually
  • Forgiving – Withstand installation/maintenance abuse and still provide long drive life
  • Efficient – Drive performance between 94 – 98% when maintained and installed correctly
  • Versatile – Cover a wide range of horsepower and speeds using standard electric motors
  • Rugged – Last for long periods of time

Factors that can Reduce Belt Life

  • Excessive sheave groove wear and improper alignment
  • Lack of proper tension of the drive
  • High ambient and operating temperatures

Common V-Belts for the HVAC Industry

Hi-Power II (A, B, C Section)

The wrapped Hi-Power II V-belt has a reputation for reliability on industrial applications. The arched top provides superior strength to prevent dishing and distortion of the tensile section. The cords are bonded to the body for equal load distribution and reducing bending stress without deterioration of the cord. The concave sidewalls provide cord support and full contact with the sheave groove for equal loading and uniform wear.

Tri-Power (AX, BX, CX Section)

The Tri-Power belt has a combination of flex and load carrying capacity, as well as less stretch resulting in less maintenance. This provides superior performance on the toughest heavy-duty A, B, and C section industrial drives. The raw edge construction and special notch design makes the Tri-Power belt especially suited for drives requiring small diameter pulleys and back idlers.

Truflex (2L, 3L, 4L, 5L Section)

Truflex belts are engineered with superior length stability for minimal take-up requirements, perfect for all light-duty applications, including fractional horsepower (FHP) motors and applications using backside idlers. The lower cord positioning improves the performance on light-duty belt drives.

Super HC (3V, 5V Section)

The Super HC V-belt combines the strength of a wrapped belt construction with the economies of a “narrow” section V-belt. The cross-sections can transmit up to three times the horsepower of classical cross-sections in the same amount of drive space. Super HC belts are suitable for virtually any industrial application, particularly those where space, weight, and horsepower capacity are critical.

Super HC Molded Notch (3VX, 5VX Section)

Super HC Molded Notch (MN) V-belts are used for applications that require high horsepower but are constrained by drive weight or physical space. These “narrow” cross-sections provide a superior combination of flex and load-carrying capacity, transmitting up to three times the horsepower versus comparably sized classical cross-sections.

Sheaves

Sheaves (sometimes called pulleys) wear over time and become a frequent source for efficiency loss. Building owners, facility managers, and maintenance technicians need to be aware of the impact worn sheaves can have and the importance of maintaining drive efficiency. Sheave condition and alignment are vital to V-belt life and performance. New V-belts should never be installed without a careful and thorough inspection of the sheaves that are involved.

Common Sheaves for the HVAC IndustryThree Sheaves

AK Single-Groove Bored-to-Size Sheaves – Use with 3L, 4L, and A Belts
BK Single-Groove Bored-to-Size Sheaves – Use with 4L or A Belts and 5L or B Belts
2AK Two-Groove Bored-to-Size Sheaves – Use with 3L, 4L, and A Belts
2BK Two-Groove Bored-to-Size Sheaves – Use with 4L or A Belts and 5L or B Belts
1VP Single-Groove Variable Pitch Sheaves – Use with 3L, 4L, 5L, A or B, and 5V Belts
2VP Two-Groove Variable Pitch Sheaves – Use with 3L, 4L, 5L, A or B, and 5V Belts

Air Filters

Air filters are an essential part of your HVAC system. Ignoring the filter can have significant repercussions on your building maintenance plan. Clean air filters promote adequate airflow to prevent the system from working harder than necessary. Proper air filtration will result in better air quality for the building as well as increased efficiency and longevity of the HVAC system.

MERV 8 Extended Surface Pleated Panel Filter with Mechanical Media

The Multi-Pleat XL8 is a medium efficiency, extended surface pleated panel filter that is engineered to provide higher initial efficiencies and overall superior performance when compared to standard pleated filters.

  • Multi PleatMERV 8 and MERV-A 8 performance ratings
  • Mechanical MERV 8 media is not reliant on electrostatic charge for efficiency
  • Low resistance to airflow
  • High dust holding capacity
  • Sturdy double-wall frame design
  • Moisture resistant beverage board frame
  • Available in 1″, 2″, 4″, and 6″ depths

The Multi-Pleat XL8 is the best selection in applications such as hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceutical plants, commercial office buildings, and in systems where a higher degree of indoor air quality is required.

MotorsWEG Motor

We offer a complete line of electric motors designed for use in the harshest HVAC applications such as cooling towers, fans and blowers, and other severe duty environments where long life and high efficiency are desired. Various voltages, mounting types, and housing designs are available.
